Duplicate Finder - File Clean App Reviews

Very useful.

Helped me clean and consolidate a majority of my files quickly.

So far so goof for first try, we’ll see how it does in a few more months.

Slow, gives you an incredible lack of information or customization options and you aren’t warned BEFORE BUYING THAT IT DOESN’T SCAN EXTERNAL HARD DRIVES.

When I perform a scan of my Personal Photos folder the program reveals that there are 1780 and it shows them on the left side of the window. When I hit “Auto Select” and then choose “Remove” (to trash) it removes approximately 10 images and the rest of the 1770 still show in that left side of the window. So, when I attempt to remove them again it seems to go through the process but then tells me that “0 B Files have been moved to trash” and offers no clue or option as to how to remove the files that it has found. Can anyone offer tip here or am I just out another ten bucks on another crappy app?

This is the first duplicate finder that felt safe to use. I was impressed with the user interface and the speed of the program. When I double checked the results they were spot on. I’m the first admit that my Mac gets messy. I need a Mac Maid to help me keep it running smoothly . Duplicate finders is just the program.

App finds duplicates but does not remove them

Bought this app a few days back to clean up. It found ‘dulpicates’ very fast. I moved them to trash and just before I was about to empty trash I thought I would verify if thosee files were indeed duplicates - turns out a LOT of improtant files that were not duplicates were in trash!! I am glad i did not delete them. Now I have to figure out what to do with the 2 GB of files and how to send them back to their destinations. Not sure I can trust this software to find duplicates for me.

I got my music libraries split into too many different places, and when I put them all together, I saw many duplicates. I ran this app. It reported that I had no duplicates. I tried again, thinking I must have chosen the wrong path to check and got the same result. I then ran “Duplicate Detective”, which found and cleared over two thousand duplicates that this app missed entirely. Completely worthless.

This program turned up one duplicate on a computer that has thousands. Other free or $2 programs displayed them with no problem. I found this to be useless, even though the other free programs in the suite that led me to it are great. The company’s tech support site reveals many experiencing the same thing.

Works exactly as described! I can’t ask for more than that from a utility app!

this is the most user friendly app for cleaning up your messy computer, dont be shamed by that phoney mac keeper, save time money and and a headache drop the mackeeper and start using this.

Had some trouble finding out how to use this on more than one drive, but once I learned the answer it worked well.

Simple but elegant user interface, basic functionality that works and a real hard drive space saver!

My entire music library of 17,000+ albums ended up with a multitude of duplicate songs. I had already spent 10 hours on cleaning it up and had just gotten through the “D” section. This app just saved me tens of hours fixing it myself. I could kiss this developer right now. Thank you so much!

This cleaner is easy to use, accurate, and works quickly. Being a part of my existing Dr. Cleaner makes it convient to use.

This app won’t scan the “Photos” folder where all my duplicates are located.

A wonderful tool for files, but it’s lack of features do not make it great for dealing with large sets, but otherwise highly accurate and not one negative flag on thousands of files. Missing some features that are often needed when working with messes of irreplacable documents. 1. Having more ways to cross reference data for the result of Auto Select would be appreciated. Duplicate documents are not shown side by side visually and more data statistics should be added to the file comparison to give the user confidence of whether the program pairs “identicals”, or does what some programs do in finding “similars”. As it appears to me and as the name of the program suggests, it finds identicals and leaves the similar files alone. 2. I do notice that the graphic overlay of the program glitches upon operational completion (prior to close). It does not effect the programs functionality, but does force a restart / close of the program instead of the programmers intended rescan — 50% of the time on OS X El Capitan running on a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro.

I am sorry to say this but your program found only 1 duplicate on a machine that has many duplicates. In my Art file it found only one pair of paintings. There are paintings that I have many copies of because I keep copies of what I have done at various stages. I suspect that there are at least 100 duplicates in that collection of my work yet it said everything was clean. In my Documents folder there is the same problem many, many duplicates are there to keep track of my work. I had really hoped that your program would do the job… unfortunately it would not.
