Duplicate Finder - File Clean App Reviews

Efficient. Not Bothersome.

Ever had this "friend” named “Tony" who uploaded to your computer a virus which continuously copies downloaded word document files? If so, this application may be right for you! It’s simple and finds duplicates quickly and easily. However, the paramaters of what is considered a duplicate cannot be changed. It even gives you a full list of duplicate possibilities so you can manually decide what needs to be deleted. Great for when you decide to make the idiotic choice of giving vastly different names to two identical files. If you are not one of those people who make this silly mistake, you can simply autoselect the files and any duplicates will be mercilessly thrown into the trash. In the meantime, while trying to remove this virus, I’ll be happily cleaning my memory periodically with this easy to use application. [But seriously, it’s low on bugs, works well, and it worth the money if continuously create duplicate files by one mean or another. I highly recommend it.]

Great.

Awesome. Simple, simple, simple. Locates and makes deletion of copies a cinch for high-level stuff. I’ve been looking for this kind of app for years. Maybe there could be more detail focus, but for a regular system clean it’s spot on.

Waste of money

In the Dr. Cleaner demo of Duplicate Finder, the duplicates with my iTunes library were identified and selectable. Now that I wasted $10 to purchase the app, the iTune library is off limits and it is not identifying any of my duplicate songs that were flagged 5 minutes prior. I want my money back!

Just awful

This software is useless. It has no instructions and it only searches by user, not by system, so it doesn’t check external drives as an integrated computing system. And becasue it has no instructions, I have no faith in deleting anything. I am requesting a refund. Do not bother with this mess.

easy peasy,,

This app is easy to use and helped me find almost 100 gb of space. So totally worth it. Thanks. Kristin

Does what it says

I transferred files from my pc to my macbook, and had no idea I had so many duplicates! Once I saw them side by side in the results I realized where the extras were. Thanks to this app, it found the duplicates and cleaned up over 6 GB of precious space on my old macbook. Thanks Duplicate Finder!

Useless

Useless for external drives or partitioned drives. Wasted $.99

Very good

Thank you for this application its awesome and so helpful

best

i live this stuff its just amazing

Clearly the best

Much better than other duplicate finders I have ever used in 10 years

easy to use

just sitting watching tv and using the duplicate finder——it shows me the duplicates—I can select myself or hit auto-select——I knew I had a lot of junk on my computer—but never knew it was this much——my grandson who works for Apple will be so glad I am cleaning house-----

it actually works

having used several other programs for duplicates, this one works. It also makes it very easy to see what duplicates were found and to select the correct one to remove. In my experience, it’s never found an incorrect dupllicate. The “autoselct” works pretty well, and is a time saver. But do double check.

Great tool, but be careful

It does what it advertises — finds duplicate files and allows you to deletes them. However, it deleted some crucial files for an application I was developing and I lost quite a bit of work. Even though you can delete to the Trash, there were so many files and the ‘Put Back’ option is not available. So, make sure you check all the files it finds before deciding to delete them (even if it is in the thousands)! Overall a great tool, and can definitely save you some storage space! I find the $5 a bit pricey for this tool, especially since I got Dr. Cleaner for free!

free version does the same …

this app miss everything hidden many gigs of duplicate pic music and much more it give afalse sense of security. let them prove there product work put an update out that really fixes and removes file because as it stand this clean what you can remove without software like it i call it junk ware both versions anyone thinking this really work needs a coarse in pc maintance and security. MY ADVICE THIS IS AWASTE OF TIME AND SPACE AND MONEY IT IS COMPLETELY WORTHLESS TO DATE IT HAS DONE ZERO TO FIND DUPLICATES AND I HAVE MANY BIG RIP-OFF RATED AS COMPLETE JUNK CRAPWARE NOT EVEN WORTH TAKING FREE IT JUST A MARKETING SCAM. DO NOT BUY YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Good tool for finding dupes

This is a great tool for finding duplicate files, even if the filenames are different. With over 50,000 image and movie files to consolidate from several backup disks, I needed help organizing the task, and this app did the job, well enough. Initial scans can be slow depending on the density of the analyzed files, but subsequent scans of the same folders is significantly faster. Stopping and restarting a scan is simple, even if you are in the middle of organizing your files. The preferences give you enough flexibility to manage the scanning target by folder location and filename, but I would add file type (‘kind’) as well to provide a wildcard option to narrow the scan search. The option to remove a file to a folder other than the Trash would also be helpful. Lastly, the interface could display a plan of action and time estimate after the first pass, allowing the user to alter the parameters in order to improve performance or reduce the processing time through changes in folder and file selection.

An Impressive App

In my use of the ‘Duplicate Finder’ application thus far, I’ve been quite impressed with its ability to conquer the largest hard-drives/file folder(s), and produce an accurate output of items to be deleted (with optional ‘auto=delete’ feature). Duplicate Finder is the best app of its kind time I’ve come across; my sole complaint is that sometimes it seems to get in a “spinning rainbow” death spiral toward the end of the ‘Delete’ function (stops at around "80%-90% completed" point) and/or when the app opens the OS X application “Photos” to delete any files found within the native Mac app. Nonetheless, 4 out of 5 stars!! I’m getting lots of use out of it.

App is slow and wont scan external HD

But this app recently for $9,99 and now its $4,99. Considering the fact that this app doesnt even scan external HD’s and the Trend Micro Inc company does NOT respond to emails you send them, I classify this App 2 stars aswell as a ripoff. I reported these problems directly to Apple, I hope I get my money back. Dont buy is my advice.

Keeps Crashing

Only works when I scan a local drive, not my external drive. Everytime I try to stop the scan and see the results, it crashes. Then I have to start all over again.
